This is going to be a long blog as I have a lot to tell you. 

Back in April, I went on my first plane ride! It was an hour long flight to LA, and it was fun. I was pretty well behaved the whole time.  Then Mama and I went to a park while Dada attended a financial conference.

At this magical park, there’s this man-sized mouse with huge ears and tight red pants.  I think he owns the park everything was decorated with mouse ears.  Mama and I rode in huge rotating tea cups, baby elephants, and one ride had these scary little people come out and sing “It’s a Small World” over and over again.

That weekend I got to hang out with my new friend named Kaitlin, so it was a fun trip.  And I went to the beach for the first time!  The ocean is wet.

I also went to Santa Cruz for the Leong/Leung Family Fun Trip.  I played in the sand while mama, dada, and the uncles tried to hit this ball over the net in the sand.  It was funny especially when mama tried to jump AND hit the ball at the same time.   Dada was funny too but he can at least jump higher than mama.  My parents can embarrass me sometimes.  I also went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and say lots of fish.

Over the past month, I’ve also learned I can get my way if I yell and scream. It’s so liberating! If I don’t want to eat my vegetables, I yell and scream. If I don’t want to go to bed, I yell and scream. If I want to go outside, and Daddy says no, I yell and scream. If it’s 2 AM and everyone’s sound asleep, I run into their room and yell and scream. I’ve also found it helps to stomp your feet while you’re yelling, it really drives home the point. Eventually, you’ll get what you want, but you have to keep at it. Mommy and Daddy aren’t as dumb as they look, and they’re catching on, so it takes a bit longer now to get my way. I may have to figure out another way soon.

Just last week, dada took one side off my crib.  I fell out a few times but I slept through the fall.   Now I can get out of bed when I want to.  I don’t have to wait for mama or dada to come get me.  And in the middle of the night, if I don’t feel like staying in bed, I just scream and walk over to Mama and Dada’s room and see what how they react.  Most of the time I get escorted back to bed.

 First night, I manage turn 180 degrees in my bed, fall off the bed, hit the soft landing, roll UDNER the bed and continue to sleep.  And all while holding my bunndy!  I’m THAT good.

 Second night, I just rolled off bed onto the soft landing and continued sleeping.

 Third night, I decided to sleep perpendicular to my bed.  Its cool.

Mommy and Daddy keep saying something about the “Terrible Two’s”, but I’m not sure what that means. I doubt it has anything to do with me.

Anyway, I can walk now! It’s pretty cool, because now I can get to all those pieces of food on the floor before the dog gets to them. I’ve also learned to speak better now. I now know mama, dada, yeah-yeah (grandpa), and nie-nie (grandma).

However, my all time favorite word is “buh-balls!”. Everytime I say it, mama pulls out stick from a can of soapy water, blows into it, and these transparent spherical objects come flying towards me! I’m not sure what the spheres are called, yet, but they’re a lot of fun. They come in all different sizes, float in the air, and it’s fun to try to catch them. Also, I’ve recently realized that if you take the surface area of the spheres and divide it by the diameter-squared, you get the SAME constant, *regardless* of the size!

So now you’re thinking, “uhh, Kyra, where are the cute pictures?” Mama and Dada are struggling to decide whether to post them here, or on facebook… for now, facebook is winning. So look up mama and dada on facebook, and you should see some up to date pictures. You’ll find I look much more grown up these days.

Its been a busy 2008 for me….let’s recap.  Moved out of house, got the stomach flu, moved into house, got a tan by the pool, got some teeth, turned one, took a music class, learned to cry and look cute to get my way, sat on Santa’s lap…that sounds about right. 

My 2009 resolution is to delay walking and talking as long as I can.  I’ve fooled everyone so far…why walk when I can be carried and why talk when I can point and scream?

Mama and dada decided to sell our old house…sold in six days.  We were then homeless for 2 months b/c we couldn’t find another place to buy right away.  Dada said it was a good situation.  I guess it was b/c we got to live with my bf’s family (Ryan) for 2 months.  We had lots of fun.  Mama was so happy b/c she didn’t have to cook much.  (Auntie Lan (Ryan’s mama) is an excellent cook.)  Dada had a pool table to play with and I had Ryan by my side 24/7.  But after two months of living together, I realized I was not ready for anything serious.  Its best that I keep my options open.

Anyhoo, we finally moved into our new house in June and we’re still unpacking.  No worries, I think we’ll be here for a while so mama and dada are taking their time.

Its been a while since I wrote.  I’m 6 months old now.  I have to use both hands to count all the months…I’m going to run out of fingers soon.  But never fear though, because I recently discovered my toes!  I have ten of those too.  I can ‘t wait until I’m coordinated enought to grab them…they look as delicious as my fingers!!

Mommy recently started me on solid foods.  It was weird at first but I got the hang of it pretty fast.  Now mommy is trying to feed me all kinds of purees.  Veal with squash, chicken and pear, beef and carrots, all so yummy.  She even feeds me crunchy crackers and puffs.  Those are kinda hard to eat since I don’t have any teeth.  But they melt in my mouth so I just chew them with my gums to please mommy and daddy.  They get so excited when I eat.   

I better try to sleep, daddy is going to wake me up early tomorow.  Plus, I don’t want to get dark circles under my eyes.

Heehee!

I had a wonderful first Christmas. I was the center of attention the whole time, and I got lots of Christmas presents. I even got to see Santa at the mall. And I’m proud to say I was the only baby that wasn’t scared to death of Santa!

A few weekends ago, I had my red eggs and ginger party in the bay area.  I met all of mommy’s family and friends and grandma’s (poapoa) friends and coworkers too!  There was lots of people and balloons and food!  Everyone wanted to take my picture and hold me.  I was pretty tired by the end of the day.  So were mommy and daddy.  But we all had a good time.

More recently, I went to take my first studio pictures.  The photographer was one of mommy’s old friends, Uncle Bo. I was modelling all morning.  It was tiring; being a super model is hard work.  I had to look at Uncle Bo’s funny camera at all times and endure many wardrobe changes. Worst of all, I have to look interested and smile!  I’m too cute to have to do all that work. To protest, I made extra poopy diapers that day.
